Elmer,

Foster looks absolutely awesome!!!
IF this roadmap is correct, we are in for one hell of a ride!!!

Agreed, 1.7 to 2.0 GHz Foster in 6 months or so. These will make some killer servers, already well along in development at a big OEM near you (well, maybe not in AZ ;-0). Below, from the roadmap, not exactly chopped liver either:

1.0 GHz mobile PIII in March (next month!)

1.13 GHz mobile PIII in July

McKinley pilot intro in October

Re: IF this roadmap is correct, we are in for one hell of a ride!!!

Yes, it's a great roadmap. There have been lots of great roadmaps in the last 2 years, from both Intel and AMD. There have also been a lot of delays from both Intel and AMD, sometimes only days before a given item on the "map" was due to be released. (and in the case of 820, mth, 1.13P3, 266FSB Athlon, and DDR chipsets, the delays came after the "official" releases).

Older roadmaps show Itanium shipping for nearly two years by now and AMD SMP shipping for almost a year. There are lots more examples from both companies - of course, you know that.

But it sure is a great roadmap, and the real near term stuff (1.7GHZ P4) should make it pretty much on time.

Dan

Elmer, Re: IF this roadmap is correct, we are in for one hell of a ride!!!

Don't you find it somewhat ironic that Intel employees have to download the latest confidential Intel roadmap via AMDZone?

I wonder if Intel is leaking its roadmaps on purpose? Apparently everyone has them.

Andreas

In that presentation, does Foster DP refer to Dual Processor configurations?

If so, AMD may be coming a little lame with their VERY-LATE-TO-THE-PARTY PaloMeano SMP Hail Mary Prayer shot.
