Bams, I understand what you're saying, but don't agree with it. Although not coming from its core business the other 7c are earnings too. The latter come from "other investments". My view of this is that CSCO shares represents ownership interest in other companies in addition to Cisco. If you discount the 7c you should also discount that portion of CSCO price that represents those "other investments", and when you do that the PE multiple would be same as when the entire 18c and entire CSCO price used in the calculation. This makes sense from a total return on investment point of view.
