In other words, when you are looking at the beauty of the rockies, you don't notice the development because you can't see it. Frankly, if you fly over Madison at night you can easily recognize that there is a city down there, but over the suburbs, and even close to the center of the city, it is hard to see the houses during the daytime because of the large no. of trees. Will Anwar be pristene after the drilling. 99.9999 % will and the areas near the drilling will eventually get close to pristene, as time heals all wounds. Will the caribou be impacted. Possibly, but only temporarily, not permanately, as food in the ecosystem determines the size of the herd. As far as the Pecos, that is progress. Things change, some for the good, some for the worst. Some could say that the Hoover Dam is bad, the lake floods a georgeous part of the canyon. But on the other hand, the dam supplies electricity to the six surrounding states; drinking and irrigation water for CA. and Nevada, and more importantly prevents all of the floods which used to ravage the area. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. Our world's unsustainable patterns of wasteful consumption make it unlikely my grandchildren will have the same opportunity. I am not sure that your children wouldn't enjoy the view, even with the development. And I wouldn't bet that through the efforts of yourself and others, that our consumption patterns won't change to more renewable energy sources, fake wood, biogenetic food etc. For instance 50 yrs from now, we could easily be using a energy source derived from new biology developments. For instance, a yeast that can turn all of the sewage into a form of natural gas and water clean enough to drink; and the natural gas might be able to produce enough electricity for 10 - 20% of the city. Foods which can be grown on arid lands, with less water, and which can repel insects without pesticides. Foods that just might taste good but have no fats. Will things be different? Absolutely, but to say things will be worse in total; I doubt it.
