Yea, it's bogus. But it's probably all they are in a position to do at this point. Between the original confusing instructions, the apparent lack of understanding of how stock-picking contests are generally judged (and why), and the lack of staff to implement any software to track the contest, I don't see where they have much choice.

Hey, it's just a contest, it's only a $500 prize (they wisely chose to give away a $50,000 prize on the more rational and less trouble-prone basis of a random drawing :) ) and a "learning experience".

BTW, I think it's pretty amazing that there are negatives in the top 5, and the gains are all pretty modest. Not at all how I expected it to go - I expected that out of all the entrants, somebody would happen to pick a jack-rabbit.

Are the posted results really the results for the content period, or just over-night changes? Somebody else pointed this out as well.

Not only is the contest not "bogus" because it uses the SI percent gain; it would not mean that Scott had "changed his mind." Just because he said you were right in what you said did not imply in any way a change in the contest rules.

This is a perfectly legitimate contest. It is in fact you yourself and those like you who want to change the rules after the contest started. Learn to read and ask questions before you take action and you will avoid a lot of bitching and moaning and giving other people headaches.

Just because the thing isn't set up like you want it doesn't mean it's bogus.
