Even if you have angst over that delicious burger (heck, even I like the smell of cooking meat) we weigh the impact differently in our minds. A friend of mine had a German mother who couldn't stand the smell of barbecue because it reminded her of the smell of burning bodies from the war. I can see why that'd put her off the joys of barbecue. Quite understandable really.
