OT Tulvio The famous saying amongst pilots is "I would never jump out of a perfectly good airplane" So it was a real stretch for me to do it. Almost all glider pilots wear a parachute because of the possibility of midairs while flying in a gaggle of other sailplanes in a thermal. There is a lot of formation flying involved when doing this. It's easy to lose sight of someone while circling in lift. I know a few people that have been involved in mid-airs and were saved by the parachute. A good last resort! Eric
