fwiw - I remember most of this myself.
Maybe things were not really as innocent as they seemed back then.
But maybe they were. For kids, anyway.

Too bad todays kids can't enjoy this kind of innocence.

Rich1, I remember many of the the things mentioned in your post... especially the items that were solitary and free. I was the oldest of six kids and had too many chores to fully enjoy everything mentioned. Also we lived in the sticks so there weren't any playmates except siblings. Catching fireflies was a special treat!

You brought back some good memories.

Edit: I recall a girlfriend and I sneaking off to the Fort Hood Army Base and standing at the fence... hoping to catch a glance of Elvis when he was stationed there. Needless to say Elvis did NOT march by for our perusal. LOL!
