Hi Mike -I would like to short the Israel stock market.
There is the First Israel Fund that is selling at a discount.
I hate shorting a closed end fund, especially with a discount.
Do you know of any good Israel short candidates?

I'm sorry to hear you are getting a job that will cause you to back off
on investment chat.

MB, RE your previous 90/10 postings,
I was looking for a review and explanation of your 90/10 strategy. In a Jan 28, 2000 post on this thread, Thomas M in posting # 74731 cited several links to your articles. Unfortunately, all those links now get redirected elsewhere.

Is there someplace else where I can find them?

To All, Barron's fund family rankings. Funny stuff this week. Janus, which rates numero uno out of 65 for 5 years, ranks 84th out of 84 for last year. Man, that James Craig knows when to get out of Dodge. <G> Aim was 82d. Kids, can you spell d-i-s-c-i-p-l-i-n-e? Better get a new ad campaign. <vbg> I have nothing against either firm. They are run and gun fund families and last year they got gunned down.

The fund families I worked for or with in the past ranked very well for 5 years. Fortis was 4th out of 65, Waddell & Reed was 5th and Van Kampen 7th. Way to go, guys. Waddell and Fortis were also in the top half for last year, though Van Kampen was a less robust 48th out of 84. Still, I am glad to see my old co-workers doing well against their peers.

Colonial ranked first for last year. I don't know how to phrase this nicely, but it is an odd year, indeed, when Colonial ranks #1. American Funds, which I have always considered the class of the industry, ranked in the top ten for both the five years and last year.
