Have to disagree with you on some of that:
AG never actually endorsed the tax cut.
I watched the testimony and he clearly did endorse the tax cut. In fact, it was so clear that the senators that opposed it were all pushed out of shape and let him know it.

He did point out that it the FED cut would take effect right now whereas the tax cut effect would be so much further down the line that the recovery would already be here.

Naturally, after the testimony AG did the FED cut and the market went - down. So much for AG's command of the economy.

How anybody could be so stupid as to sit there in November and say the FED might raise rates (thighten bias) is just beyond belief.

I agree with you even right now he is sitting there and saying things like "should the current surplus assumptions hold " when everyone but the FED knows it doesn't hold. Off the top of my head I can remember a total over a hundred thousand pink slips issued in the last 4-6 weeks. Where is the surplus going to come from? Printing presses?

IMHO, the market doesn't give a damn anymore about the FED and cuts have no more effect.

The good news is that everyone hammered stock prices down to a point that they reflect nothing but doom and gloom. So almost any good news could have a positive impact. The factories in Taiwan say they see the bottom in the chip market in mid March to early April. I trust them more than market gurus.

I have a feeling this was CSCO's worst quarter (bad numbers and bad CC). Next quarter will be bad numbers and good CC. CC is all that counts. At some point the guys at T and WCOM will get things refinanced enough that they can increase spending. When is anybody's guess but we do have driving force - broadband internet. I think it would be a mistake to disregard it and think it will be a year to recovery.

The third to worse feeling:
Being in a stock is when the market goes down big.

The second to worse feeling:
Selling your stock for big losses after the drop.

The worse feeling:
Being out of the stock when the market recovers.

then in a variation of "buy on rumor, sell on facts", the market indices may simply sell off more when the next rate cut and the tax cut comes through as promised.

You may be right Jay, in fact it figures. The market was rallying while rates went up. Why not tank when they go down.

Once again, we're thru the Looking Glass Alice
