Maybe the problem is in presentation? I can't say that I've looked into the hate crime thing before but I've certainly seen the headlines. It comes across like the proponents favor stiffer penalties for hate crimes because someone killed out of bigotry is somehow deserving of stronger justice than someone killed for money. Sounds like some kind of preference thing for minority victims (immediate victims, not the intimidation of other members of the group). Not likely to win over middle America. I didn't get the point until Jorj highlighted it. This thing needs to be repackaged if it's to get support. Karen
