You may be on to something. I do not have the recycle bin protection on this machine but do use it at work where enditall does cause a "sometimes" hang on shutdown. I'll test it tomorrow and report back.

bob,

re, "I am guessing you do not have Norton protected recycle bin enabled on your system?"

wrong. i do have norton protection (recycle bin) enabled.

"And why would I have to protect the antivirus program and no one else?"

uhhhh

"I am also using the Norton utilties intergrator."

is that an option or something? the integrator is like the main ui where all components are accessed from. i'm not in w98se, i'm back in w2k, so i can't check if there is a setting to enable the integrator. i thought it was just part of 'the show".

btw, maybe you don't have to protect nav. perhaps you have yet to find that perfect combo. maybe you just found one that works, but there are more. besides, protecting nav is contrary to what you are going to want to be doing when you do software installs.

hmmmmmm

:)
