I agree, Thomas, Noland's column was excellent tonight. The other theme he mentions in closing is that although banks are tightening lending requirements, the GSE's surely are not (and actually appear to be even LESS discriminating in who they lend to than ever, as witnessed by the recent refinancing boom). My favorite stat was that in January, Countrywide Credit initiated 600 million plus in loans PER DAY on an equity base of less than 3.3 billion. UFB....and it WILL end very, very badly.
