Unfortunately, "growing" is no longer enough to justify the burn rates of companies like PLUM and TOPT. A couple of years ago all you needed to show was growth and you would have all the money you needed.

Not anymore. The IPO environment has changed drastically (back to historic norms) and with it the venture capital environment. VIAD adjusted too late. My impression is that many of the others are still somehow counting on additional cash infusions or a relatively quick IPO. I think there will be a lot of tears.

Any company is a good investment right before an acquisition. Whether something like VIAD is a good investment NOW depends on how soon you think they might be acquired and how low you think they stock might go before then. Getting a 10-20% premium over the market price of a security that has fallen 50% since you bought it is no great deal...

Unfortunately, you're asking me to discuss compeitive analysis that could be considered proprietary. Let me think about this carefully and substantiate my opinions with public information before I say anything that I shouldn't.

[Worth noting that the competitive analysis I did was limited to particular EIP features, and did not address many of the major architectural issues that I would -- if I were an IT manager -- be most concerned with.]
