Santiago ,here is a link you might find interesting.

" In his analysis of man, Pascal focuses on two very contradictory sides of fallen human nature. Man is both noble and wretched. Noble, because he is created in God's image; wretched, because he is fallen and alienated from God. "

I was always fond of Blaise Pascal, the seventeenth century
Christian , and mathematical genius . As a scientist
he was aware of the limitations of logic and reason ,
and saw the need for some of the most important decisions
of our lives , must be based on searching the heart.

He saw that there were things even in nature that were beyond our limitations of rational explanation , so how could one prove that God is there ?
Both hidden and revealing , God may show himself for the contemplative soul,
thru that deeper transcending sense of a more
divine order within.
It is for each person to pray deeply
to understand and
become enveloped in this .

As for Pascal , his insights still remain fresh today.
It is extremely important for people to understand the
the ture heart of religious search , from distilling
their own lives down first to comprehendible parts.
Just as in mathematics and geometry , you must start
with the theorems and basic postulates to understand more advanced proofs and answers , so in matters of the religion and knowing God one must start with what is basic and foundational
in our lives.

Often what is simplest , is divine.

Even when one has had one of those "peak" experiences
that many have when life has "revealed" something more precious hidden deeper within. One simplifies.

Jesus , Buddha , Krishna understood deeply/divinely
the complexities of Man's heart .
Yet they spoke simply , in clearly
undertood parables and stories . Which were
quite exquisite in their effect ....more so to me
than the " miracles" , which are only needed by those
who's faith is not fully developed.
Simplicity is good ,and used by many
successful persons , because it
leaves the mind uncluttered.

This requires first the introduction of earnest prayer or meditation. Which sadly is usually not the condition of our normal state of mind/comsciousness to have have the control over our own selves enough to even begin this...being whip-sawed so violently ( just like the in the stock~market) between greed , lust , and fear , and indecision. All three of which are mind-numbing , and
clouds & freezes ones natural gifts of
insight and vision.

There are " good " things which are
gifts of nature born within us , and there lives in
each heart every answer one could seek . For God
dwells not everywhere ? But without developing
a deeper sense of calmness , living with restraint and "moderately" ,
a sense of one's own "being " and clarity of
vision one cannot hope to poessess. This is basic
Hinduism and Buddhism 101.

Could it be that the soul and the
heart are one and the same ? Knowledge of
of one , leads to knowledge of the other ,
and then on to knowledge of God ?
Not the knowledge of your own personal heart,
but the heart within you that see's itself in all
other places and people at the same time...

With or without Moses , you would be able to have discovered today , in your own heart , the Ten Commandments
for the Laws of God were ever written there,
in your own heart.

So smile and be joyful...seek and you shall find.

So here is a contribution to this
" Ask God " thread...

Note : Your question on the everlasting afterlife....
...could you be so kind to give me an extra few hundred
years to answer that ? [ joking, Christian!]

;-)

* I'll try maybe later ,to give you a sense of what
I think and feel on that ...perhaps a
Hindu point of view , it's very interesting and complimentary...
From first impulse though since
I am conversing with you , a Christian ,
I would start with those words/revelations
by your own Master Jesus :

" I am the way and the light"
and " I and the father are one " ,
as a good place to begin
to address the concept
of "Everlastingness" .

It may be that what is "everlasting " is waiting for you "here and now" ...

regards

Noel
