Consider what the ceo and president of LSI Logic (LSI) said today. —

"LSI Logic Corp. chairman and chief executive officer Wilf Corrigan harbors no illusions about the current economic situation. Not only does he see a full-blown recession, the company may even push out its newest fab project if business conditions do not warrant the additional capacity.

"Obviously we are going through a correction right now, but I think the situation is much more severe than anybody has said," Corrigan told EE Times in an extensive interview. "I think we are in a recession right now, and that we are looking at coming in for a hard landing. People keep talking about a soft landing. Well, I keep looking around for the people who are sitting on pillows, and I just don't see them."

If he's right, don't you think amat will get absolutely killed and could drop to 30.00 - 32.00? What if year end improvements don't materialize. then how much further downside is there?
