Update. I got the restore disk to finally work. Compaq tech support was no help had no idea what was going on. I thought that this could be a Y2K problem, so the only way you can set the date of this BIOS is to remove the main battery and the CMOS battery, then reconnect them.

You can't change the BIOS date unless the battery is removed to erase it.

Then when you enter setup the computer will ask you for a correct date.

Changed it back to 1999, the restore disk didn't work. So I formatted the HD and tried. Didn't work.

After about 6 hours, trying all sorts of things, and tech support (no help) I decided to install DOS 6.22 and then tried the restore CD. It worked.

Never had that problem before.

The unit came with Windows 95.

Just for the heck of it, I am going to change the BIOS back to 2001, (removing the battery to wipe it clean) and then I am going to try the restore disk agian.
