Hi choosie,

I'm so appreciative of your writing about your experiences with coming out. I think it's really sad and strange that you're the only SI member I know who is out. Statistically, there have got to be hundreds of men and dozens of women who are gay but who haven't taken the step of saying so publicly. I can understand the reasons why, but personally my feeling is that if you're OK with who you are, telling the truth will, in the end, only serve to increase compassion and understanding.

I always smile when I hear an adult say that they don't know any gay people, or anyone who has had an abortion. They most certainly do.

What you said about having had bosses who tend to see you as a relationship counselor is interesting. Why do you think this is? I truly can't think of a reason why being gay makes any difference. But if it does, I've got a little issue with a neighbor I'd like to pass by you. <gg>
