In my neighborhood lots of folks are jumping on the generator band wagon all of a sudden. Wonder why? I installed a 20kw Onan in the fall of 1999. It will supply my house with most of its power needs.

One friend who has had to run his 6kw for 24 hours at times was telling me it spikes his gas bill $50 or so. Yikes

Neighbor behind my house has an Onan that is a D8 cat motor. Not sure how many kw's it throws out but I'd hate to see his gas bill. Plus the thing is really noisy. Fortunately for him it's stationed a long way from his home and closer to mine.

From the generator files.

Best

Maybe that city owns some diesel fuel wells <g>

Same thought occurred to me. Having a portable generator myself there is NO way I believe the city could use diesel generators to generate power more cheaply unless the power utilities are absolutely reaming them.

Eye candy:

cpc.ncep.noaa.gov

Looks like it will provide a great selling opportunity for those so inclined in the patch (FWIW, I've lightened up by about a third on my energy positions this week, sold KEG and XOM on Friday).

Roebear -

Thanks for putting a date on the cold weather (march 8) That'll help me time my exit from NG E&P -

at least 10 days BEFORE it gets warm - because the more 'solid' 10 day forecast
will start to affect the NG price on Nymex, and thus, the stocks....

Roebear, have any comments on the weather? Every forecast I monitor now says the next two weeks will be below normal in the main NG consuming region of the midwest. Most also predict normal to below normal temps for LA and San Diego.
