Barrons just came out with a survey of online brokers but their ranking system seemed to be aimed at neophyte investors who need handholding and phoney research, and didn't take into account real trading costs (ability to split the MM spreads etc.) at all. For example Datek was ranked very low and well below Schaub which is nonsense for anyone who has any experience of trading. I did see however that Amex was ranked dead last by some distance. Frankly I'm surprised they scored that high - they must be the worst broker on the planet.
