hjm, you're view is not right. amzn has rocked the avg pocket book of its investors. volume is the key. look at a chart w/ volume.

30-40 times as many buyers above $90 as below $4. sure, there was a lot of trading in and out. but the point is this, there were a lot more buy and holders at $90+ that <$4. 20 or 30 as many.

take this example...

1 * $4 = $4
30 * $90 = $2700

11 shares at an average price of $2704.

the price falls 80% to $18.

31 * $18 = $558 for a net loss of 79%.

this math is devastating.

i'd argiue that most folks didn't get interested in amzn until it was this price on the way up. all the gazillion buyers and holders since then have lost their arse to the tune of gazillions. traders may have broken even, net, net.

amzn has shown many, many people some very tough love.
