tc; this is getting a bit complicated.

The goal is to be able to use the browser View/Source to bring up the source code for any given page. It was working yesterday. Now I get an error message about being unable to find notepad. I was out trolling websites this a.m. & wonder if a programmer who didn't want his/her source code inspected caused some mischief.
After searching earlier I downloaded & installed 2 substitute notepads. Neither of them work in the above situation. I wonder if I could change the path & point the browser to one of the new programs.

Yes, I ran the system file checker as instructed. Nothing came up. I also found a copy of Notepad under C:/. It won't open & can't be deleted because it says Windows is using the file. When I try to copy it from C:/ to C;/Windows, I get the virus alert. But if I run the antivirus on all files, I don't get an alert.

I also turned off the virus protection & imported notepad from the old machine to C:/Windows. Wouldn't open. Turned the virus protection back on & rebooted. The alert went off, but not for the copy in C:/. I deleted the other copy from Quarantine.
antivirus.com doesn't have a notepad virus listed, so i don't know what the symptoms would be!

Sorry to go on at such length. d.
