The problem with that figure is it is only looking at manufacturing, completely ignoring services like software and banking. If you notice, the MVA for the US is only 16.3% of total GNP, all of the other countries you list are 20% or above of their GNP. If you take the GNP and divide it by population, you will find that very few, if any, countries are higher than the US.

First, I had impressed myself that I was able to locate such info so quickly and then you have to go and get all nit picky. ;~))

Secondly, they did not show numbers for software and the like.....but I would not be so sure that we are that much ahead of Japan and Germany, two countries that beat us out on MVA per capita.

Not that this justifies the consumption by the US of the world's resources.

Of course you're right...but some of the thread can't bear to hear that 'cold turkey'; they need some supporting data to make it more palatable.
