Two great losses from thread rudeness: One, obviously, is the loss of those participants who have something valuable to contribute but who remain lurking or left the thread altogether because they simply don't need the irritation. And secondly, the natural tendency to dismiss rude posters and everything they say because it's simply too much unpleasant effort to filter the worthwhile content from the taunts, insults, and boasting, results in insights and opinions worthy of consideration being overlooked. When shells are made from road-apples, the pie is unappetizing, no matter how delicious the filling. Cheers, PW. P.S. On the whole, I've learned more from those who disagree with me.
