Glenn today in mid afternoon I happened to be driving past a mall which is right next to the highway ... parking lots were jam-packed full of cars. I mean packed. Incredible.
We live in a mall culture- so many people just cannot stay away from the mall for 3 days in a row! Most of the pure play retail .coms overlooked this and I think this was one of the reasons so many got started, and so many failed.

Victor,

You are correct. Initially, I was a bit lost as to how this would play out but in early 1998 or late 1997 I was certain pure play B2C just would not work. I do believe that a web presence that is well maintained and providing distribution will be a requirement to properly compete. However, the on-line sales will never be a huge slice of the retail pie at least for a decade or longer and for all I know forever.

The touch and feel is so important to people. The convenience of the on-line pricing and becoming educated about products is also important to many. My web site has become an invaluable resource for customer relations although it is about 2% of my gross sales.
