OT.Japan: Failed bank execs to be held accountable.
February 12, 2001
" The arrest Wednesday of four former Niigata Chuo Bank executives, all charged with aggravated breach of trust under the Commercial Code, means that the management of all seven banks that have been declared bankrupt since the Financial Reconstruction Law was enacted in 1998 will be held accountable for their actions. "
" The failure of the seven banks traces back to the practices of the bubble economy of the 1980s. "

Doug, some UK gold happy talk: a.k.a. Gold Reallly Sucks

news.ft.com
Gold has become a marginalised currency
that is still in search of a new
- and probably much lower - fair value.

Richard, might it be best if you dump those shares
in companies that have great possibilities for that
event called "metals on the table" and replace them
with the ABX(s) of the world that have sold forward
their next 50 years of gold at $289, so that if one
converts this price using inflation in a reverse manner
to calculate what $289 represents today 50 years from
this today using inflation, then that one ounce of gold
50 years from today will have a price of $289 in 2051
which would equate to a price of gold today at 47 cents.

In the year 20...(was this a hippy song in the 1970s?)

In the year 2051, a gold bar will cost same as a bar of lead.

Which means somewhat likea change lead into gold.
