Who makes more? A buy-side or a sell-side analyst?

I'm not sure about the current dynamics, but in the not too distant past, highly-ranked, highly-paid sell-side analysts would move to hedge funds while junior people on the buy-side made moves to the sell-side.

At the high end, it would seem that both would do pretty well.
