Re : investing in wireless stuff (Qualcomm) -- go to the following page from Qualcomm's IR (Investor Relations) portion of their massive website :

qualcomm.com

Listen to the :

9/16/00

2/8/01 (part 1)

and

2/8/01 (part 2)

presentations.

Remember that if anyone within Qualcomm's management EVER lied about something, they would be litigated out of existence by all sorts of people, greedy lawyers (some lawyers do not qualify as people), competitors, regulatory bodies, etc.

If you are a "that is good enough for me" - type person, I suspect that these three presentations would be sufficient to induce a buy order for some Qualcomm.

If not, spend as much time as you can stand ... educating yourself about wireless technology.

Qualcomm's CDMA is literally changing the world.

Jon.

Chip,

Personally, I can't understand why everyone's laying cable, why waste the time when wireless is the future.

Beware of snake oil salesmen selling 3G. Fiber is an easy one or two orders of magnitude more efficient once in place. It is the preferred solution. Period. Wireless is the height of hype. Should you care to pursue this line further, let me know. You may specialize in the financial futures markets. I've spent the last two years getting up to speed on telecom methodology. I can be opinionated as the best of 'em. I can also cite facts. Which the wireless promoters are desperate to bury in their spin. <w>

Best, Ray
