Et Tu Tony! A bear in redsox clothing.
I suspect your criticism of AG and the fed is largely correct But, and its a big but, it is my belief that AG agrees with you now and the messages he is being telegraphed by the John Chambers of the world as well as the Paul O'Neill's(not the yankee) are being listened to. Expect another rate cut of at least 1/2 point this week or next. Remember that in other periods there were inflationary pressures preventing the fed to act this boldly. When the Winter of our discontent ends and energy prices return to lower readings and Calfornia gets its act together, we will see the bold fed actions begin to work without a return to major inflation. 2 weeks to pitchers and catchers! i think you overrate large companies capabilities to look ahead. In November, Chambers could not forecast what happened in December. In January, he still was confident to make the numbers. Now he feels that 6 month from now everything will be great... an estimated guess, that's all he has to offer.
It puzzles me that educated people like Chambers know so little about the economy. As if you could control it with just one input - interest rates. If it was that easy there would be no economic slowdown EVER.
Let's face it: the economy is still cyclical. We can manage the cycles. Hopefully AG will do a good job.
