FRANKFURT, Feb 11 (Reuters) - The head of the U.S. computer giant Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news) predicted a slowdown in sales growth to just under 5 percent in the first half of 2001 from 10 percent in 2000, a German magazine reported.

Michael Capellas told German news magazine Der Spiegel in an interview to be published on Monday that Compaq would see sales stagnate at zero growth in the first quarter followed by a pickup in the course of the year.
