"The Reagan's paid taxes on Nancy's gifts" Gifts in the amount of 10,000 per year to any one person are not taxable and I think this was the case during most of Reagan's term. Also, the donor is primarily responsible for the gift tax not the donee. If the donor doesn't pay the donee can be made to pay. Little joe
