Hedging--
O'Neill says US economy can grow 3% to 4% without boosting inflation

Washington--Feb. 9--U.S. economic growth is currently in a "narrow band" between
plus and minus 0.5%, but it can expand by 3.0-4.0% without boosting inflation,
Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill said Friday. He also said President Bush's
proposed $1.6-trillion tax cut would, if enacted, help prompt a consumer-led
expansion. ( Story .13233 )

US manufacturing, retail sales upturn could cheer Fed

Washington--Feb. 11--Slight improvements in U.S. manufacturing and retail sales
since the beginning of the year could make Federal Reserve Chairman Alan
Greenspan somewhat more optimistic at his upcoming Senate testimony on Feb. 13,
the Washington Post reported in its Sunday edition. ( Story .10702 )

AND not enough to make IBM turn into the bargain I hoped..........

IBM says its German subsidiary built Holocaust adding machines

San Francisco--Feb. 11--IBM (US;IBM) acknowledged it's German subsidiary
provided the Nazis with a tabulation machine used in their administration of the
Holocaust, according to a statement the company made to its employees. The

Chu doesn't know his butt end from a hole in the ground!

Hlpinout; thanks for the reminder of previous statements concerning this subject. In light of Chu's more recent article concerning Dell revenue numbers per employee I am not particularly concerned about what this moron Chu has or doesn't have to say. His credibility is zero in my books. There is certainly no mystery about raising profitablility without raising sales. It's called product mix! If you replace a dollar of sales from a product with zero, or worse yet a negative gross profit margin, with a dollar of sales from a product with a higher gross profit margin then net income will increase. Big deal!! Why Chu would be perplexed by that is a mystery.

I hope those reading this latest statement from Capellas do so in the context of his earlier statements on this subject.
