I don't live at the at the Big Bend (damn few people do) but have visited it many times.

It is a fascinating place. Spring time is best. Has many different climates, so it can be OK even in the middle of the Summer if you plan well.

The distances can be daunting. If I recall correctly, it is 70 to 80 miles from Marathon to the entrance to the National Park. You might see one or two vehicles during the drive. There is absolutely nothing to do at Marathon, except sleep, eat and walk around the hotel. Children, accustomed to urban life and all its activity, might become bored. The cabins at the National Park are a good bet. However, they get taken early. I would be surprised if any of the choice Spring dates are still available, but you never know.

<<all I can think of it Tremors the movie with the giant man-eating earthworm, one of our favorites.>>

I taped that one and still watch it. I think it kick started Kevin Bacon's career. It was sad to see Fred Ward show up for the sorry sequel.

Tremors is a classic.
Even I like it.
Tremors 2 was not nearly as good.
Is there a giant Cockroach movie?
