"Nancy "borrowed" $20,000 dresses during Reagan's tenure and kept them when they left....I'd like someone to provide ref material that says taxes were paid on them, which were worth more than 1 mil new... "

I don't know anything about the dresses, whether borrowed, taken etc. I am just trying to get the thread to understand that if they are gifts they are not taxable up to $10,000.00 per person per year and if gift taxes are due, they are the primary responsibility of the donor and the donee is secondarily liable. I don't have a dog in this fight.

JF....There are multi search engines, on INSP/GNET, etc....could YOU provide us with ref matter that shows anything about the questions you bring up....Most of us do our own "digging" and bring it to the board with their findings....

Innuendos aren't "cool", even if during the last 8 years, they have become more the norm as put out by the past administration.
