RE:"Am I missing something"

Yes, that after tallying/counting since the election was over) all the (10k) undervotes in Miami, Dade, the ones in question by Gore, that the FLSC wanted to count and the USSC didn't let be counted......Bush actually GAINED votes...
So much for Gore winning the popular vote in FL...he didn't.

Combjelly Re..Assuming that is a fair assessment, at least it involved a power that is granted to the states. Isn't the federal government infringing upon those rights granted to the states supposed to be a bad thing? Am I missing something? <<<<<<<<<

The FL. SC has the right to interpret laws of the state as long as the laws comply with federal laws. The problem was the FL. SC ruling interfered with the process of due clause, a federal standard. That gave the US SC jurisdiction.

The power is specifically granted to the state legislature by the constitution.
