Funny when people talk about PE and selling CSCO and then want to pick up JNPR.. come on people. I don't care how new a stock is or how speculative it is a PE is a PE is a PE. If you think CSCO has a HIGH pe how can you talk about JNPR. I don't get it.

growth rate and the chances of that growth rate continuing in the case of JNPR is what determines whether Cisco or JNPR is a better buy. Is jnpr now selling products that are far superior to Cisco's routers? Could it turn into another Nortel versus Lucent story with JNPR winning out and Cisco dying a slow death?
That is why a PE is not just a PE. There is much more involved....we have to remember JNPR is a smaller company that may be able to maintain growth rates.

If the products of JNPR are not that much better than Cisco, then maybe one should think about buying Cisco since it will be cutting prices to regain market share.

There are lots of factors to consider than just PE, IMHO.

However,I do agree that if the market stays weak, Cisco becomes a better buy (relatively of course) due to the new risk averse way of investing that has emerged recently. By better buy, I mean it is unlikely to drop as much if things continue downward.

BTW--I am however optimistic and would probably be buying both this week. Cisco had new product launches as well.
Thanks for the information on Cisco's investing. Certainly more good news. I would buy JNPR if it drops significantly but buy Cisco around these levels. I also expect Cisco to announce some sort of share repurchase program. They are free to buyback shares if they wish since their last "pooling of interests" deal was over 6 months ago (the waiting period for share buybacks after pooling deals).

good luck.
