What are your thoughts that the action on NTAP on Friday was a turnaround or a one-day wonder ?

Network Appliance (NTAP) 38 +2 13/16: Reported Q3 earnings of $0.11 a share, a penny above the First Call mean; revenues rose 91% to $288.4 mln.. CSFB said revenue was shy of its $293 mln estimate due to weaker-than-expected dot-com spending; DSOs increased from 57 to 70 days; firm maintained HOLD rating amid concerns of EMC entry and potential pricing pressures. Banc of America Sec downgraded to BUY from STRONG BUY and lowered target price from $125 to $50. CE Unterberg Towbin upgraded to STRONG BUY from BUY in light of the recent decline in the stock due to speculation of increased competition from EMC as well as a general slowdown in spending. The firm believes the latter to be a bigger issue, as NTAP continues to demonstrate an extraordinary 80% win rate against its competition. They expect NTAP to have a few very significant announcements in the coming months and believe NTAP will debut its low-priced filer as early as next Monday. Prudential reiterated STRONG BUY. Firm said that despite recent softness, growth outlook remains relatively healthy; thinks stock is currently oversold; however firm does cut Q4 estimates from $0.12 to $0.11 and for FY02 from $0.57 to $0.55. Salomon Smth Brny reiterated OUTPERFORM; lowered price target to $50 from $73. Company beat bottom line, but missed top line; firm lowered revenue estimates for Q401 to $318 mln from $355 mln and EPS by a penny to $0.11.
