I once worked in a place where the guy in the next cubicle had a keyboard so filthy people wouldn't touch it with their fingers. When needing to use his system, people would hit the keys with the eraser end of a pencil and toss the pencil in the garbage when done. Then they'd bee-line to the washroom and scrub themselves to the elbow.

I'd spray Lysol over the baffle when he'd leave for lunch.

Anyway, we eventually got rid of him. (He was promoted.)

Once gone, we washed his keyboard in a tub of dishwashing detergent and warm water. (I can't describe what came floating to the surface.) We were hoping that the thing would need replacing, but after a week of drying, it worked. Eventually, it found its way to the desk of a recent hire. We warned him not to put food near it. What we really meant was not to EAT anything that had been near it.

Cheers, PW.
