. I'm sure in hindsight you would have sold out near the highs if you could do it all over again. ...

U dont seem to understand the methodology DS & some others use in picking companies (not stocks and their current/past prices) to invest in.

cheers, kumar

DS, when did you trade "narrow minded jack" for "pompous"?
You really should keep us posted on these kind of changes...

. NTAP's stock crashed about 75%-80% from its highs. I call that 1929 like. That's a fact.

Fact: From Oct.99 till Sept. 2000 I had a 700%+ gain in ntap. It also had a published p/e of 900 at that time.

Fact: From Oct.99 till Jan. 2001 I had a 150%+ gain in ntap.

The only reason I didn't sell in Sept. was that I'm not a trader. I didn't know what the market was going to do. I also don't know the minds of the other investors. So I didn't think I had a guarantee that it was going to drop in value. All things considered, I'll take that "1929 like" drop that occured between Oct. 99 and Jan. 01 all the days of my investing career. If I do, I will be an extremely wealthy man.

Looking back on "woulda, shoulda, coulda" is a waste of time because you can never "do it all over again".

I wonder what motivates to to point out the obvious (NTAP's price came down) and inserting references about 1929, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the situation and adds absolutely nothing to this discussion.

You call your post "gentle" and ask for my humility. Who is being pompous?
