Milo,

Kinda Reminds of you the 1st Piii 1Ghz launch doesn't it?

I don't think it is as bad as Piii 1GHz. If you want 1.5 GHz Piii, you can buy it from number of places. Piii 1 GHz availability only kicked in approximately in September, about 6 months after the paper launch.

One thing that I read into the launch is that P4 bin splits ended up 10 to 15% below the initial expectation. The expectation was 1.4, 1.5 GHz, with 1.7 GHz in January. This would imply > 1.5 GHz sweet spot, but it turns out to be 1.4 GHz.
