Slowdown seen for
Compaq
CEO Capellas sees sales drop in early
2001

Frankfurt (Reuters) - FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The head of computer giant
Compaq Computer Corp. predicted a slowdown in sales growth to just under 5
percent in the first half of 2001 from 10 percent in 2000, a German magazine
reported.

Michael Capellas told German news magazine Der Spiegel in an interview to
be published on Monday that Compaq would see sales stagnate at zero
growth in the first quarter followed by a pickup in the course of the year.

"In 2000 Compaq had sales growth of 10 percent. By contrast in the first half of
the new year it should only be almost half that," Capellas was quoted as
saying.
