Systems Inc.'s (Nasdaq:PRVW.O) electronic software distribution
platform, Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN.O) is now offering its customers
software downloads. Today online shoppers can visit the Amazon.com
Software Downloads store (www.amazon.com/software) to buy software
online and download it directly onto their computers.
Through a secure link to global technology distributor Ingram
Micro, Amazon.com is offering leading software titles such as Intuit
TurboTax, Norton Antivirus 2001, Macromedia Flash and FileMaker Pro
for purchase and immediate download via Preview Systems' ZipLock
server. Ingram Micro provides the software inventory as the host for a
number of publishers, while Preview Systems' platform provides the
rights management to ensure that both distribution and usage rights
are efficiently and securely managed. Preview Systems' technology is
retailer-friendly, allowing Amazon.com to manage the entire customer
experience including branding, pricing and other special promotions.
