AW,

So far I haven't used the internet to pay bills online. But I'm VERY tempted to pay my VISA card that way. We track our expenditures using Quicken and I pay everything from groceries, fuel and other necessities to airline tickets, hotels, etc. As you can imagine we usually get a 2 or 3 full page bill and we break it down by account categories in our system. Quicken offers an online service whereby you can automatically pay your credit card and if you program it to do so, it will automatically categorize the payments within the credit card bill (as long as you assign a category to the particular vendor).

We allow automatic deduction for mortgages. I rarely write checks and rarely use cash.

Auggie- I pay all my bills online and love it. The only slight drawback that I have found is if you need something to get somewhere in a hurry. My service pays the bills within 5 business days (or sooner).

I also use Visa for nearly everything else and have that paid online as well which gets me major frequent buyer pts for trips etc.

A few years ago, when I had my account at a large bank, I used to pay credit cards online.

It didn't seem to work well with small businesses because if they weren't set up for electronic transaction a check had to be written by somebody else.

I have since moved my stuff to my local hometown bank and write a check for everything.

Auggie, I pay all my recurring chit online. No problems as long as it's setup well in advance. If you were to pay a bill due friday today you would be amazed when you received a late fee. Most of the companies simply send out a check on your behalf. The VISA boys get their cash but don't even credit your acct for at least 5 BIZ days..A real rip-off IMO. You can see the funds GONE from your checking, yet no VISA credit. I was wondering how many millions of dollars they scam off us this way...the time delay X thousands of accts has to add up to big numbers
