Jim, I checked a note by Don Luskin (street.com) who estimated 7.2 million shares to be bought by indexers. He is usually up to date on these kinds of things but noted that he does not know the timing of this change to be made by the S and P committee. My guess is it either happens on the day the merger closes OR in the quarterly rebalancing of the index--sometime in late March. This is just a guess on my part. That is my best guess....one or the other. Don't know how big a bounce JDSU would get but it won't be sustainable unless the market takes a positive turn.
