Irish Businessman Flynn May Bid for Eircom Units, Paper
Reports
By Brian O'Neill

Dublin, Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Irish businessman Pearse Flynn may be interested in buying
what's left of Eircom Plc after Ireland's biggest phone company sells its mobile business to
Vodafone Group Plc, the Irish Times reported.

Flynn, who until last Friday was head of the Carrier Networking unit of Alcatel SA, Europe's
No. 2 phone equipment maker, is working with several other businessmen, the paper said,
citing Flynn.

Irish investor Denis O'Brien said last week he offered to pay 1.1 euros a share for Eircom's
traditional phone business together with its directory services and Internet units, or what's left
of the company after Vodafone buys the Eircell mobile phone unit.

``There may not be an offer,'' the newspaper quoted Flynn as saying. Flynn requested some
``basic information'' on Eircom from the company two or three weeks ago. He declined to
comment on O'Brien's approach, the paper said.
