SCUMbria - Re: "Yopu seem to be using the words "Merced" and "IA-64" interchangebly. Merced ain't going nowhere."

Yes it is.

Merced is going - actually, already is - into all the development workstations and servers on which IA64 software is being developed.

In that role alone, Merced is playing a major part in the eventual success of the IA64 architecture.

Scumbria, <Yopu seem to be using the words "Merced" and "IA-64" interchangebly. Merced ain't going nowhere.>

Just to confuse you a little more, marketing is now moving away from the "IA-64" label. They now want to call the whole architecture "Itanium." So the term "Itanium" no longer refers to just Merced.

Don't ask me why. I'm no "two drink minimum" marketing guy.
