Very positive news, Kumar. Too bad it came on a day when emlx warned and tanked the storage sector.

emlx -48%
brcd -18%
emc -7%
mcdta -24%
ntap -5%

Looks like we're getting off easy... so far.

MSFT's mention is interesting. They've announced an "XP" web-friendly version of Windows, focused on the ability to download music and pictures, as well as transferring pictures to photo shops for completion.

MSFT's also touting a future home-networking server based on Windows 2000. Delivery seems to be a ways off, but that might use NTAP's cache and smaller storage products. Maybe Web-TV needs local storage for the downloads (music and TV) once MSFT gets its hands on DirecTV? PDA, sound systems, etc.

Interesting that NetApp website does not have these announcements. Looks like DW was anxious to make a 3-point shot.

More to the announcement than even I anticipated:
1. New C3100 midrange caching appliance.
2. New F85 low end filer.
3. New F820 mid range filer.
4. Fibre channel fabric switching (Brocade OEM no doubt).
5. SAP partnership.

I guess DAFS/VI is not ready to roll out yet. Probably late this quarter, I'm guessing, based on Hitz's prediction cc before last.
