I've also heard the code name "Deerfield" running around... is that an IA-64 chip or an IA-32???

I believe Deerfield is the budget version (the "Celeron" version[:)]) of Madison and therefore, IA-64.

Fin, <I've also heard the code name "Deerfield" running around... is that an IA-64 chip or an IA-32???>

Last I heard, Deerfield is an IA-64 chip. It's pretty much a lower-end version of Madison. I wouldn't compare it to "Celeron," since that would imply a sub-$200 price tag per processor. ;-)
