RE:Your belief that rich white murderers have the same opportunity for the DP is not born out by the empirical data or any reputable study of the issue. It is almost certainly not applied even handedly to rich and poor. Just look at Klaus von Bulow or O.J. My understanding was that he said rich, white people SHOULD have the same opportunity fro the DP, but that they don't now. BTW, I don't think many people consider O.J. to be white. Also, I believe you have to be convicted first to be even considered for the death penalty. Bulow and O.J. were found not guilty.
