And let's not forget Abraham- he was willing to kill his own son for the voices in his head. Cronos ate his children- if I recall correctly- and then his wife got tired of his baby eating and fed him a stone instead of Zeus- who then grew up and killed his father and let all his siblings out of Cronos' body. There's unimaginable matricide, fratricide, patricide- and just a whole lot of other cides- in almost all the major religions I'm familiar with- whether ancient religions or current ones. People kill- and they do it a lot- so of course it show up in the mythology. Food, Sex and Killing- the three big interests of the human race- and those interests are amply reflected in mythology..
