The puts were probably written a long time ago, and have simply been traded back and forth between speculators. I rather doubt that 600 new put contracts were opened today, since the open interest is only 228. You could check the open-interest yesterday and today and compare them to see how many new contracts were written, if you have access to that historical information: I don't but would be interested in knowing.
